Run for Your Wife
by Ray Cooney
directed by Sarah FitzGerald

June 11, 12, 13, 14 and June 18, 19, 20, 21, 2009

This superb example of the British farce had them rolling in the aisles in London and New York.  John Smith is your ordinary London cab driver.  He owns his own car, sets his own hours, is hard working, punctual and lives a very ordinary life...with the exception of his two wives, Mary and Barbara. Complication is piled upon complication as the cabby tries to keep his double life from exploding.  Run for Your Wife is a fast paced, slapstick, laugh a minute romp that leaves you in stitches and begging for more.

THEATRE WINDSOR AUDITION NOTICE
 "Run For Your Wife"
written by Ray Cooney
directed by Sarah FitzGerald

Yesterday, John Smith was living an ordinary life, driving a London taxi cab and happily married - to two different women. Last night he stopped a robbery and today the press, the police and his neighbours are threatening to blow his cover sky-high. Climb aboard for a wild ride complete with mistaken identities, flapping doors and some of the craziest lies ever told on stage.

Auditions at Theatre Windsor - 2109 Ottawa Street

Sunday, February 1st, Monday, February 2nd & Tuesday, February 3rd 2008

7:00 - 8:30 PM

Required: 5 adult males and 2 adult females

Show Dates: June 11th - 14th & June 18th - 21st

Please note that this is a VERY high energy show with lots of physical comedy, flapping doors, and fast movement. ALL CHARACTERS SPEAK WITH BRITISH ACCENTS.

John Smith- John is an ordinary, average-looking man in his late 20's - early 40's. He is the last person in the world anyone would expect to have a secret. Strangely likeable and somewhat cuddly.

Stanley Gardner - John's upstairs neighbour, also in his late 20's - early 40's. Stanley is a terminal slacker who routinely borrows money from John. He gets drawn into John's crumbling lies against his will.

Mary Smith - John's first wife, in her 20's - early 40's. She is a sweet, gentle, innocent optimist who is eventually pushed to the breaking point by her husband's seeming infidelity.

Barbara Smith - John's second wife, in her 20's - early 40's. She is a strong, sexy woman who makes her own decisions. She knows what she wants and knows how to get it.

Detective Sergeant Porterhouse - In his late 40's - 50's. He is affable, personable, positive and pleasant. Approachable and full of advice on any subject. He approaches his job in a whimsical way.

Detective Sergeant Troughton - In his 20's - 30's. Stern, hyper-masculine and determined to prove himself as a police officer. He makes up for his lack of experience with suspicion, paranoia and an obsession with playing by the book. Very limited sense of humour.

Bobby Franklyn - Barbara's upstairs neighbour, any age. He is flamboyant, outgoing and openly gay. He has just moved in upstairs with his boyfriend and is renovating the apartment for their dress-designing business. As the renovations get out of control, Bobby's flying visits into the apartment below just add to the chaos. (Cameo role)
