Biloxi Blues
Biloxi Blues

Written By: Neil Simon

Directed by:  Cindy Lee Lambert

Jun. 10,11,12,13,17,18,19,20, 2010

Biloxi Blues is the second in a three-play cycle of Eugene Morris Jerome, alter ego of the youthful Neil Simon. When we last met Eugene, he was coping with adolescence in the 1930's in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. Now, he is a young army recruit during the Second World War, he is going through his basic training, learning more about life, and developing his "Writer's Sensibility" at boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1943. Eugene and his fellow enlisted recruits suffer under a hard-nosed sergeant, partake in the daily "mess" served up for meals, visit the local whorehouse and officially become adults. Eugene also confronts the ugly spectrum of anti-Semitism; and, for the first time, falls in love.

April / May 2010 - Smart is off on a bizarre new case in which he must stop the sinister organization known as KAOS from their most shameful plot. This time, their plan is to prove their power by blowing up the Statue of Liberty! This is too much and Smart springs, perhaps we should say stumbles, into action. Magnificently assisted by beautiful Agent 99, Smart proceeds from one gigantic blunder to another, each, however, somehow turning into a master stroke.

The scene is Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather who is living out his last hours in the local hospital. Lenny, the eldest sister, is unmarried at thirty and facing diminishing marital prospects; Meg, the middle sister, who quickly outgrew Hazlehurst, is back after a failed singing career on the West Coast; while Babe, the youngest, is out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach. Their grave, yet somehow hilarious, troubles are highlighted by their priggish cousin, Chick, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail while helpless not to fall in love with her.

Directed By:  Sean Ireland

Sept. 10,11,12,13,17,18,19,20, 2009

September 2009 - "Caught in the Net" by Ray Cooney, directed by Sean Ireland -
The sequel to “Run For Your Wife” finds John Smith, the bigamist taxi driver, still keeping his two families in different parts of London, both happy and blissfully unaware of each other.  However, his teenage children, a girl from one family and a boy from the other, have met on the Internet and they are anxious to meet in person since they have so much in common; for example, name, surname and a taxi driving dad!  Keeping them apart plunges John into a hell-hole of his own making. The situation spirals out of control as John juggles outrageously with the truth.
